What Brinescale does
Brinescale (at opencure.net, run by WeldonPC) is a calculator. It turns the weights and percentages you type into grams and parts per million, and compares the result with the federal limits described on the limits page. It is not a food-safety plan, not professional advice, and not health, medical or nutrition advice.
Your part
- Check every input, and use the label percentage of your own curing salt.
- A recipe inside the limits is not a promise that a food is safe: that also depends on handling, temperature, time and drying. See when to ask someone.
- Do not use Brinescale to make food for sale without the approval your state or USDA requires.
- Keep your Batch Book link private. Anyone holding it can open, change or delete the book.
The Brinescale Pass
The Brinescale Pass costs $1.95 a month or $19.50 a year. Free during preview: checkout is not switched on, every Pass feature is free for everyone and nothing is charged. Before any payment is taken, this page will set out the full terms for paid passes: billing through PayPal, renewal, and cancelling in PayPal at any time, with the Pass running to the end of the period paid for.
No warranty
Brinescale is provided as it is. WeldonPC works to keep the arithmetic and the limits right and shows every source, but cannot accept responsibility for how a recipe is made, stored or eaten. If you find a mistake, tell WeldonPC through weldonpc.com.
Names
Brinescale is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to OpenCures or OpenOme Inc., OpenCure, LLC, or the U.S. Department of Agriculture and its Food Safety and Inspection Service. Brinescale names and recommends no brand of curing salt; "Cure #1" and "Cure #2" are used only as the common descriptions of the two kinds.
